HA Ya-Ali (Hasan) aka: dHUA collides writing, music and art. His music production is a fusion of jazz, electro-jazz, hip-hop & beat art. His art encompasses abstract, deco and fine art works. Which translates to the album covers and posters he creates.
A case for JAZZHOP
Post-Modern to Jazz and Hip-Hop, culminated by instrumental hip-hop or beat art. Window dressing in the early 2000's, with heavy influences from 'Jazzamatazz' by Guru & guest in the 90's. From 2003 Madlib put the exclamation point on it with his Yesterdays New Quintet. Catching the ear of Blue Note Records, who let him in the vaults. Shades Of Blue: Madlib Invades Blue Note is a post-modern jazz and hip-hop classic. Focusing on the art of beat-making (beat art) or instrumental hip-hop. Not confused with Beats (sub-genre), which signifies a producer is selling one-off tracks.
Moving into 2023, JazzHop doesn’t seem to be slowing down. It’s like a bulldozer, hard, heavy and equipped for the ever changing terrain. JazzHop has weathered many phases of music since the 2000's. Mature at 23 years plus, and still going. Artist like Robert Glasper, Alpha Mist, Madlib, Freddie Joachim, The Midnight Hour (Adrian Young & Ali Shaheed Muhammad), J-Rawls and his Liquid Crystal Project keep pushing the sub-genre to new heights. Others include Chicago's Greg Spero, Vanilla, Badbadnotgood, Karriem Riggens, Abstract Orchestra and more.
From 2012, Hasan has been fine-tuning his compositions. On his latest run, HA Ya-Ali steps into the JazzHop genre full-swing. "I got off the phone with Dreamworks who showed interest. In the late 00's, they told me, they like what I do, of course. But my catalog was "dirty" or too many samples. In 2011, I started reaching back in my vaults and cleaning up the tracks. This lead to over 25 releases from 2013-17. I ran out of steam in 2018, but now I have over 25 concept albums based on original material.
