About Grandson of jazz
An American-raised writer, producer, and emcee of African-American descent, Dhakkir Hasan (b. William Robinson) fuses hip-hop and jazz with a spiritual progressive method. With remarks of Afro-futurism and Brainfeeder, from the press in 2016 for his Basmala release on his own PER Music Library label. HA took a break in 2017's and traveled South-East Asia. Until the global crisis of 2020 brought him back state-side.
Heady, cerebral, hypnotic, temporal, and in the pocket has been used to explain HASAN's compositions. HA doesn't listen to what people say (about his art) and constantly pushes the boundaries of his sound. Choosing to express himself behind the machine in the studio or wildcrafting on an enduro path. His jazzy style, rough in the 00's now stands out. He spent the last 10 years since beginning work on his Basmala projects (2012) to smooth out the sound. Still edgy and raw and thoroughly unapologetic, theres no compromise in the craft.
His most recent project "The, Grandson of jazz" he remarks, "Oh thats hipBOP, Ya still rocking that jazzy sound."
